It took liberal hysteria over legally-armed security guards at the GTac mining site to get Wisconsin Senator Bob Jauch seriously concerned over the conduct in the Penokee Hills.

He reacted to reports that surfaced on several liberal websites Monday that showed armed personnel at the exploratory drilling sites.

In a letter to Goegebic Taconite President Bob Williams, Jauch and State Representative Janet Bewley, a fellow Democrat, poured it on thick.

"We are calling on you to immediately remove the heavily armed masked commando security forces currently hired to protect your company’s property in the Penokee Hills. The images are horrifying and the action by the company to hire this high security Arizona firm is appalling. These kinds of security forces are common in third world countries but they don’t belong in Northern Wisconsin.

"We cannot begin to describe how upset the citizens of Northern Wisconsin are at the sight of our forests being patrolled by masked soldiers carrying military style assault weapons like mercenaries in a time of war."

Notice the disdain the duo show for a law-abiding, job-providing business in their districts. The Northern Wisconsin lawmakers and mining opponents expressed no such outrage when eco terrorists attacked the work site, damaged property and harmed a GTac employee, or while their allies bragged about the assault.

Charges, including a felony, have been filed in that case. Unlike the masked eco-terrorists, the GTac guards are not committing any crime. They are on private property, guarding GTac employees and machinery, with the consent of the property owner.

"We are doing nothing new," said GTac company representative Bob Seitz. "These security folks have been in the forest for some time, [however] no one saw them before." Said Seitz:

A private business operating on private property has a responsibility to provide a safe workplace for their employees.  Since the attack last month, protesters have been operating in secret camps on this private land.  If security sits at the drill site, these people can choose when and where to attack…they have four miles of roads they have already barricaded once.  Since the attack, they have approached the drill site numerous times after midnight.

By putting security out in the woods finding and watching them, we can keep the whole area safe.  As for the guns, they physically attacked one of our people after barricading the road so help couldn’t come.  Would you approach a camp of 5-6 of these people without the ability to protect yourself?  As with other personal protection situations, the purpose of the weapons is self-defense and preventing violence.

They have been fully camoed to sneak through the forest and monitor these protesters.  The mask is part of disappearing into the woods.  They have broken up several groups by showing up in the middle of their group and saying hello.  They also wear full gillie suits but no one sees them then.

Since their appearance at the site, the eco-terror attacks have ended.

But the hysteria has just begun.
