Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke managed to avoid getting her picture taken with President Barack Obama, but she can blame a fellow Democrat for a photo with its own embarrassing connotations.

Burke's former primary foe Brett Hulsey snapped a picture of Mary Burke and a staffer briskly leaving the Milwaukee Summerfest grounds during President Obama's remarks.

Hulsey took the opportunity to chide Burke for being "too chicken" to appear with President Obama.

Burke's Labor Day actions puzzled many. Avoiding the unpopular President Obama makes sense. But Burke tried to have it all ways. She arranged a private meeting with the President before his remarks, but skipped out on appearing in public.

Threading the needle never looked so bad.
